AudioCraft: GenAI for Audio made simple

AudioCraft can create audio and music samples from plain English.

It consists of three foundational models that Meta launched:

• MusicGen (Music generation from text)

• AudioGen (Environmental sounds and effects such as dog barking)

• EnCodec ( AI-powered compression technique)

Generative AI for music and audio is a big deal, and Meta has been leading the charge. And they’re open-sourcing all of it — currently research only, but surely a commercial version is coming soon.

Imagine the impact of this. Musicians can create and test new compositions without using a piano. Game creators can add music to their games for only $10.

This will definitely shake up the music industry.

NEW TECH

OpenAI filled a trademark for GPT-5

While nothing was announced by OpenAI, their trademark filing can tell us that GPT-5 will incorporate:

• voice and speech recognition

• speech translation

• predictive analytics

• audio to text (we might see more of Whisper)

• and more text and algorithm processing models

"GPT-5 is coming, and you're not ready" threads are about to take over Twitter 𝕏.

🚨 What else is going on

• NASA and IBM deployed an open-source geospatial model on Hugging Face — this will support many use cases for AI climate and earth science

• OpenAI shipped new updates to ChatGPT - you’ll get prompt examples, suggested replies, and more

• Google is trying out new AI features for search. Now you can get a summary of your search and see a preview of images related to your search. The experiment is currently available in the SearchLab (US only)
